Injured and kind of heart broken

I was going to compete in my last Summer Eights this coming week. Univ M1 had been training pretty hard over the past few weeks, and it was coming together nicely. According to the GPS, we were gaining more speed practically every session and the moral was high.

But then I went and fell off my bike and bruised or fractured a rib. It was comedy. I was going really slowly past a family with small children on the towpath and I hit an uneven part of the path and went flying over the handlebar. I decided to have the outing anyway, but after about 45 minutes I was in too much pain to continue and called it a day.

The pain just kept getting worse and worse during the day, and now 24 hours later, it is hurting to breathe or make any serious movements with my right hand side.

I am really really sad, but I guess I am not angry (like I usually am with injuries) because there is nothing I could have done about it. It was just one of those freak incidents.

Still, a big fuck you to the Oxford City Council for not sorting out the towpath.

Anyway, feeling really really heart broken and sad.

What can you do apart from wishing luck to Mack, who is stepping up to take my place, and hoping I can feel well enough to be back in the boat by the weekend, but unlikely.
