5k again (probably)

For only the 7th time ever I am going to inflict the pain of doing a 5k on myself this week. The pain is not like anything else I have ever experienced in my life. Knowing the coaches and everyone else is looking at your effort and knowing this will be the last thing you are ever going to do unless you produce a good score, really makes you put yourself through things you cannot otherwise imagine putting yourself through. I would never ever be able to do a 5k on my own and produce anywhere near the scores I produce with others around.

It's hell: with 3 and half k's to go, your legs are already burning, your chest is exploding, your arms are on fire and your vision is becoming more blurry with every stroke. How can I keep this going for another 12 minutes?

Please, please, make it stop.
